The Palliative Care team strives to ensure that patient values, wishes and dignity are identified and respected with the goal of improving quality of life for both the patient and their families.
Palliative Care Clinicians
Palliative care aims to help people who are facing a serious illness live as well as possible. It is appropriate at any stage of illness and is provided along with curative treatment. It improves the quality of life of patients and of their families who are facing challenges associated with life-threatening illness whether physical, psychological, social or spiritual.

Our priority is to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients.
- Palliative care is appropriate for anyone with a chronic or serious illness.
- Palliative care improves the quality of life for patients and their families by providing comfort, support and guidance.
- Palliative care offers extra support when the patient or family has questions or concerns regarding medical conditions, treatment options and/or symptom management.
Our Goal
Our goal is to recognize how the patient is feeling physically and emotionally while focusing on managing uncomfortable symptoms to help the patient function at their best.
Palliative Care Team
The Palliative Care team works closely with your attending provider as an extra layer of support for you and your family. The Palliative Care team provides the following:
- Specialized symptom management treatment
- Discussions involving current illness, disease progression and prognosis
- Guidance with complex treatment options and support informed decision-making
- Psychosocial and spiritual support with integration into personal care
- Goals of care discussions and advanced care planning
Palliative Care is not the same as Hospice Care
Palliative care is available to patients at any time during illness while admitted as an inpatient to the hospital. Hospice care is meant for patients in the final months of life. Unlike hospice, palliative care can be received at the same time as curative treatments.
