School of EMT | Medical First Responder
Overview
Medical First Responders (MFRs) initiate immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access emergency medical services (EMS). MFRs possess the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS response and assist higher-level personnel at the scene and during transport. MFRs function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight.
After successful completion of the MFR Course, students are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Certification Written and Practical Examinations required to apply for licensure in the State of Michigan as an MFR.
MFR courses are offered based on participant demand and offer no set course start date.
The program is sanctioned by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Preparedness, EMS, and Systems of Care as an EMS Education Program Sponsor.
