Peregrine Falcon Nesting Box
Collaboration with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
The Peregrine Falcon is listed as an endangered species in the state of Michigan. To aid in population recovery efforts, the Michigan DNR has installed artificial nesting boxes across the Upper Peninsula and continues to monitor known nesting sites. The Michigan DNR has installed a nesting box at UP Health System — Marquette.
We are proud to support the conservation of this incredible species through this project by the Michigan DNR. For more information about natural resource projects in Michigan, please visit Michigan.gov/DNR.
What is a Peregrine Falcon?
A Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) is a bird of prey and the fastest living bird on Earth — with recorded speeds upwards of 230 miles per hour. They can be found all over the world and like to perch on tall structures, such as buildings and cliffs.
