What is your role at UPHS – Portage? 
I am a Patient Service Representative in the Internal Medicine Suite at UP Health System – Portage. 

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I was looking for a career that would give me the opportunity and satisfaction of helping more people in need.

What's a typical day look like for you?
With the needs of patients continually changing, there is nothing the same from day to day. One moment the day can be normal, the next I could be rescheduling a whole day of patients. Each day is a guess of what's going to happen, which keeps it exciting. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been here for just over a year and have been in the same position, but will be transitioning to another position soon.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
I quickly learned that you have to be able to multitask very well—being able to adjust to changes fast is a must.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I have four very rambunctious children that keep me going constantly—never a down moment. I enjoy camping and going to the beach in the summer. As long as the weather is warm I can be found outside. There are so many wonderful places around here that it would be hard to pick just one spot for a gem.  

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Portage? 
I enjoy everyone that I get to work with on a daily basis, they are always making it fun no matter the situation. By the end of the day, knowing that I could have made a difference for a patient makes coming in each day worth it.
