What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am an Information Desk Clerk at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I truly love working with the public and greeting people, and what better way to serve my community than working in the field of healthcare.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Every day, I help everyone who comes through the door — from providing directions to their appointment to helping people access a wheelchair. It makes me happy to help others. I try to be a friendly face or a listening ear for our patients, especially those who could be feeling a little nervous about being here.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I’ve been here working with Patient Transport and at the front desk for almost two months.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
I originally started as a patient transporter, but eventually found that I loved interacting with people at the front desk, so it was decided to station me there.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my grandkids.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I have a wonderful supervisor which makes it easy to come to work, and I love working with my coworkers. But most importantly, I enjoy being the first face that people see when they walk in the door and helping people have a good experience.
