What is your official title?
I am a Special Procedure Radiographer at UP Health System — Marquette.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I was inspired by the chance to work with and take care of others.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
My typical day is very busy! I am a staff technologist in Interventional Radiology, I am in charge of IR’s inventory, and I help out in the pain clinic too. When I’m not helping out with cases, I’m working on inventory control and making sure we have what we need for our procedures. 

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have worked at the hospital since 2005, starting out as a diagnostic x-ray tech on the afternoon shift. In 2011 I was hired as a full-time tech in IR, where I work today.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Taking over the inventory really increased my responsibilities and moving to the new hospital with new equipment has been a big change.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, skiing, reading, snowshoeing, and spending time with family. One of my favorite places in the UP is Copper Harbor. We take a family trip there at least once a year.

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
The thing I enjoy most about working here is my wonderful coworkers! Besides helping patients, the best part of my job is having such a great team to work with!
