UPHS — Marquette Heroes | Julie Kab, PA
December 4, 2020

Julie Kab is a Physician Assistant in Family Medicine.
What is your official title?
I am a Physician Assistant in Family Medicine.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I was inspired by the opportunity to help people live healthier lives.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, my schedule was much more regular. These days, I work in many different areas. I’m seeing patients at the family medicine clinic, as well as via virtual telehealth appointments, and I’m also working at the UP Health System COVID-19 Testing Center.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have worked at the hospital since 2006 in many different roles. I started out in the Emergency Department, where I was introduced to the strong team ethic at UP Health System. Next, I oversaw employee health and wellness, then became the Director of Care Management, and now I work in my current position in primary care.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
One big change this year is the increase in telemedicine services, due in large part to the pandemic. Telehealth appointments have become more accessible, allowing patients to continue to see their healthcare provider virtually.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I’m a lifelong Yooper, so my answer of course is anything outside. My husband and our six-year-old son love to mountain bike, downhill and cross-country ski, hike local trails, and camp in our RV. We also love to travel when we can.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I enjoy serving my community and taking care of my neighbors. I also highly value the team I work with, especially those working at the UPHS COVID-19 Testing Center.
