What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?
I am a Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health at UPHS – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I wanted to help people going through difficult times.
What's a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Busy. It starts with patient assignments/admissions/discharges. I always try to meet with each patient first thing in the morning and address any of their concerns. Behavioral Health has its unique challenges, but it is very rewarding—a mixture of chaos and compassion.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I've been employed here at UPHS – Marquette for ten years in Behavioral Health—and one year in the Operating Room (OR) at UPHS – Bell.
What are some of the big changes you've experienced in this position?
Moving from the old hospital was by far the biggest change.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite gem?
I enjoy golf, hockey and skiing. My favorite local gem is the Noquemanon trail network.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
My co-workers. We have a great team that works well together.
