I am a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) at UP Health System - Marquette Family Medicine.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I wanted to be a "helping hand" and help to make a difference in someone's health and care.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
In Family Medicine, I help facilitate patient care from the moment they arrive for their appointment. This often includes everything from intake paperwork, immunizations, prior authorizations with insurance, medicine refills, and simply being a smiling face and helping patients feel welcome.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been with UP Health System for 15 years. Before my current role, I started out in Patient Scheduling and I definitely prefer working with patients in-person in the clinic.

What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
I personally feel like the biggest change in our position is the growing respect and acceptance that medical assistants are an important part of the field of nursing.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love experiencing the beauty of all four seasons and spending as much time outdoors as I can. Vango's is a favorite local gem.

There is a certain amount of comradery that comes with working at UP Health System. You can build a lifetime of friendships and great memories.
