MARQUETTE – June 3, 2020 – UP Health System–Marquette is celebrating the first anniversary of the opening of the new facility. Just one year ago yesterday on June 2, 2019, UPHS–Marquette officially opened the new hospital at 850 W. Baraga Ave. Patients were transferred safely and all services were transitioned to the new building. The more than $350,000,000 community investment represents a remarkable facility close to home and is a reminder of UPHS-Marquette’s commitment to Making Communities Healthier.
“As we celebrate this key milestone, I’d like to thank our team and partners who have played key roles in providing dedicated health care to our community,” said Gar Atchison, Chief Executive Officer of UPHS–Marquette and Market President for UPHS. “I am proud of our employees who have done an excellent job delivering care to our patients, and we look forward to continuing to provide the best health care possible in the years to come.”
The new UPHS-Marquette hospital is a nearly 525,000-square-foot, 8-story facility that offers the community easy access to a diverse range of healthcare services in one convenient location, along with a 90,000-square-foot medical office building and a three-story parking garage. UPHS-Marquette is a Level II Trauma Center, and services available at the hospital include around-the-clock emergency services, surgical, pediatric and behavioral health care, women’s services, cancer care, cardiac care, advanced technology, and laboratory and imaging services.
Created in collaboration with the community, the new 222-bed facility was designed with the patient experience in mind. It has an easy-to-navigate main concourse and intuitive wayfinding for patients and families and features spacious, private rooms, valet parking, wireless internet, a cafe and bistro, a gift shop, and atrium coffee shop.
The new hospital’s W. Baraga Ave. location is close to downtown and provides easy access to Washington Street and US 41. For more information, visit www.mgh.org.
