What is your role at UPHS – Bell?
I am a clinic supervisor with UP Health System - Bell | Physician Services.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
A career in healthcare runs in my family and Bell felt like the perfect place to grow professionally. I am also an Ishpeming native, so it’s nice to be a part of something so important to our community.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
A typical day involves supervising all clerical staff. As part of the management team in the clinic, I monitor day-to-day activities, work on resolving issues identified by staff, assist patients, and help wherever I can to make sure the day goes as smoothly as possible.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been at Bell in this same position since August 2021.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
One of the biggest changes that stands out was adjusting to COVID protocols and adding a call center to assist our in-house call center in family medicine so we could serve our patients more efficiently.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
As a new mom, my daughter occupies a lot of my free time now, but I enjoy spending time with family, taking walks with my dogs, playing softball in the summers, and reading. My favorite local gem would be Presque Isle. I love being by Lake Superior and there's no shortage of that!
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Bell?
I enjoy the relationships I get to build with staff and patients every day.
