What is your role at UPHS – Portage?
I am a Patient Services Representative.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I started during COVID, looking for part-time work to fill my time.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Work is consistent with registering patients for Express Care and keeping the fitness center clean and stocked for our gym members.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I've been here three years. I started as a Fitness Attendant and then was promoted to a Patient Services Representative within a few months.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Implementing new systems, dealing with the business of COVID and all we did at Express Care for that - I'm glad it's done!
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
Dogs are my priority. This is a part-time job for me, I also teach locally at a school.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS - Portage?
Helping people out when they are not feeling the best.
