UP Health System – Sault Ste. Marie welcomes Andrew Fellers, MD, to its Family Medicine team

UPHS – Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce the addition of Andrew Fellers, MD, to its Family Medicine team. Dr. Fellers and his wife, Katerina Fellers, PA-C join Ashly Ellis, NPC at the family medicine clinic located in Avery Square.

Dr. Fellers earned his Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University before completing his residency at St. Joseph Family Medicine. At Kettering College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, Dr. Fellers graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Vaughan-Beaven Service Learning Honors Program.

“I believe strongly in caring for every aspect of a person,” Dr. Fellers said. “Not only meeting their physical needs, but acknowledging that patients’ unmet emotional and social needs can affect them more than physical illness at times.

“Physical health is obviously important, but if we ignore a person’s other unmet needs, we are not treating the whole patient.”

Dr. Fellers joins a Family Medicine team that is dedicated to providing compassionate, quality healthcare for the UP’s family, friends and neighbors. UPHS – Sault Ste. Marie offers a full-spectrum of primary care services including annual physical exams, well-child exams, pediatrics, geriatrics, women’s health, minor outpatient surgery, allergy injections, diabetes education, nutrition counseling and more.

Through the time he’s already spent in the UP, Dr. Fellers is looking forward to serving the health care needs of an area he has endeared himself to.

“I love small towns and easy access to outdoor activities,” he said. “I have always loved the time I’ve spent up here.”

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Fellers enjoys backpacking, golfing, kayaking and running.
