UP Health System – Portage recently announced that Nancy Archambeau, RN, Surgical Services Coordinator, has been recognized as the hospital's 2022 Mercy Award Recipient. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At UP Health System - Portage, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Ryan Heinonen, CEO of UP Health System – Portage. “We are extremely proud to recognize Nancy for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Nancy has been committed to Portage, the employees, our patients, and the community for 42 years and embodies the High Five Guiding Principles. She possesses the type of leadership skills that have helped make Portage a place where people want to work. She is fair, honest, caring, thoughtful, and compassionate and these qualities are exhibited daily to her employees, coworkers, friends, and family. Her thoughtfulness is expressed in the form of flowers, and cards to those going through difficult times. Nancy has been willing to work in any position asked of her throughout the organization. From her start as a new RN to many years as the OR manager to interim CNO, interim Surgical Practice Manager, and many others. She has set her departments apart when it comes to quality patient care, staff satisfaction, and physician support.
Nancy “grows her own”. She sees potential in everyone, encourages growth and career development, believes in second chances, and has a way to make everyone feel valued. As a nurse, she has volunteered at schools, at health fairs to promote health and well-being, and at community events providing education on everything from diabetes to colon health. If you need help with an event, call Nancy; if you need mentorship as a manager, call Nancy; if you need a friend to lean on in hard times, call Nancy. She will be there for anyone who needs her.
When a lead is needed for a new project, she raises her hand, even when her plate is full. She’s led our organization through countless new processes and initiatives, all with great success like the Above and Beyond Patient Experience and Physician Practice Marketing teams. Nancy also embodies the slogan “No place for no” in all she does. She will never say no and continuously puts patient satisfaction within the community at the forefront. Nancy has the ability to inspire others and for 42 years, has gone above and beyond.
Each hospital winner, including Nancy, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2022 companywide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced later this year and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, to which Nancy and all facility winners are invited to attend.
