UP Health System – Marquette Welcomes Vascular Surgeon Ryan Meehan, MD

UP Health System – Marquette is pleased to welcome board-certified Vascular Surgeon Ryan Meehan, MD, to the Heart & Vascular Center team. Dr. Meehan specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of vascular diseases, from varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms.

Originally from Detroit, MI, he completed undergraduate studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, before earning his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Meehan then went on to complete his General Surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX, followed by his Vascular Surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina (UNC) in Chapel Hill, NC. Prior to joining UP Health System, Dr. Meehan worked as a vascular surgeon at REX Vascular Specialists in Raleigh, NC, where he also helped train UNC Vascular Surgery Fellows.

As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Meehan diagnoses and treats diseases and problems within the vascular system, also called the circulatory system. Its main function is to move blood through the body, keeping organs, muscles and tissues healthy and alive. Some of the more common conditions Dr. Meehan treats include peripheral arterial disease, varicose and spider veins, pulmonary embolisms, and deep vein thrombosis, but he’s also equipped with the skills and experience to handle rare, emergent conditions such as aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections.
