UP Health System – Marquette Welcomes Rheumatologist Christine Matijasic, DO

UP Health System – Marquette is pleased to welcome Christine Matijasic, DO, to its Medical Specialists team. Board-certified in rheumatology, Dr. Matijasic provides comprehensive rheumatology services, including general rheumatology and the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and psoriatic arthritis.

Dr. Matijasic completed her residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. She completed her fellowship in rheumatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where focusing on diagnosing and treating her patients as the whole person — not just their disease — was her priority and still is.

"With more than 15 years of experience in the field, I'm honored to bring rheumatology services to Marquette and beyond," said Dr. Matijasic. "As a physician, it is my privilege to provide quality care and build trusting relationships with my patients."

Dr. Matijasic also specializes in vasculitis, osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries and gout. Prior to joining UP Health System – Marquette, she provided telehealth rheumatology services for UP Health System – Portage.

Rheumatologists diagnose, treat and manage a broad range of conditions, including inflammatory (rheumatic) disorders that affect muscles, joints and bones; connective tissue diseases that affect supporting structures like your ligaments and tendons, and may involve the skin and other organs; and autoimmune diseases that occur when your immune system attacks healthy tissue.
