UP Health System – Marquette Welcomes Physiatrist Andrea Carefoot, MD

UP Health System – Marquette (UPHS – Marquette) is pleased to welcome board-certified physiatrist Andrea Carefoot, MD, to the Brain & Spine Center. Dr. Carefoot, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, provides a comprehensive range of treatments to help patients recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and improve their quality of life. Her areas of expertise include electrodiagnostics, musculoskeletal medicine, amputee care, spasticity management, spinal cord injury, stroke recovery, and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.

Dr. Carefoot completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan Technological University before earning her doctor of medicine from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Following medical school, she completed her intern year in internal medicine at the University of Utah Health, where she also completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

“I truly enjoy meeting people from all different backgrounds and helping them in any way I can,” Dr. Carefoot said. “Attending Michigan Tech for my undergraduate studies and Michigan State University in Marquette for medical school helped me develop a deep appreciation for this area and its incredible community. After completing my training at a large academic center, I knew I wanted to return here.”

Outside of work, Dr. Carefoot enjoys spending time with her family, mountain biking and trail running. “The Upper Peninsula is a beautiful area with wonderful people, and I’m excited to now call it home,” she said.
