UP Health System – Marquette Welcomes Michael Potes, DO, to Digestive & Liver

UP Health System – Marquette (UPHS – Marquette), a Duke Lifepoint hospital, is pleased to announce that Michael Potes, DO, has joined its medical staff at UP Medical Group | Digestive and Liver. Dr. Potes, a board-certified gastroenterologist, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of digestive disorders and diseases.
Dr. Potes earned his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan, in 2018. An Upper Peninsula native, he attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton where he played collegiate football on a scholarship. He completed his internal medicine residency at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
“I’m happy to be back in the area and help the community I grew up in,” said Dr. Potes, who resides in Marquette with his wife.
In his practice, Dr. Potes collaborates closely with referring providers and primary care providers to address conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). He is skilled in procedures like upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Bravo studies, and pill capsule studies.
Outside of work, Dr. Potes said he enjoys hunting, fishing and watching Detroit's professional sports teams.
