What is your role at UPHS?
I am a Physical Therapist in the Inpatient Rehab Unit.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I wanted to work in a field where I could help people achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. I enjoy helping people reach milestones after a medical event. I also wanted a job that would allow me to have meaningful interactions with patients.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
I spend an hour or more working with each patient I see in the Inpatient Rehab Unit. This gives us ample time to work on things. Healthcare is a tough field with many ups and downs. I try to focus on the positives by watching my patients make progress and improve on a daily basis.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I did a travel contract here prior to becoming a permanent employee. I’ve been working here for three years as a full-time physical therapist in the Inpatient Rehab Unit.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
Lots of growth and learning experiences with different people have helped make me a better therapist.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I enjoy hiking, sports, hanging out with friends and watching the Detroit Lions on Sunday. My favorite local spot is Presque Isle (among many others).
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?
I have the best coworkers!
