Ishpeming, Mich. (Feb. 4, 2025) — UP Health System – Bell (UPHS – Bell) is pleased to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Cousineau, board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, to its Women’s Care team. Dr. Cousineau provides comprehensive services, including labor and delivery, routine gynecological care, contraception, family planning, infertility treatments, menopausal management and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Obstetricians and gynecologists specialize in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting women's reproductive health, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, endometriosis and gynecological cancers. They also offer essential services such as prenatal care, childbirth support and preventative screenings like Pap smears and mammograms.
Dr. Cousineau earned a bachelor's degree in brain, behavior and cognitive science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Michigan State University/Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners. Dr. Cousineau joins UPHS – Bell from a private practice downstate where she practiced since 2016.
"I chose to practice at UP Health System – Bell because it allows me to serve a community in need of OB-GYN services. The most rewarding aspect of my role is the opportunity to listen to my patients and work together with them to address their concerns as a team,” said Dr. Cousineau.
Dr. Cousineau will collaborate closely with referring providers and primary care physicians to diagnose and treat women’s health issues. She will also work with the Labor & Delivery team at UPHS – Bell’s Birthing Center.
Outside of work, Dr. Cousineau enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to Dr. Craig Cousineau, a pathologist at UPHS – Marquette, and they have two boys. She loves hiking, biking and always has a book in hand.
