What is your role at UP Health System – Marquette?
I am a Unit Clerk on the Medical-Surgical Unit at UP Health System – Marquette.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I chose to work at UP Health System because of our reputation for providing exceptional care, and I wanted to be part of that.
What is a typical day like for you working in this field?
With 54 beds in our unit, my day is always very busy. I enjoy my job.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have worked for 33 years as a Unit Clerk on the 6th floor.
What are some of the significant changes you have experienced in this position?
When I began my career, everything was through paper orders. The unit clerk processed all orders—labs, CT scans, medications, etc. As technology has evolved, it has greatly impacted my role throughout the years.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
I enjoy traveling and entertainment—movies, TV, music. I am a big Harry Styles fan. I love our local college hockey team, the NMU Wildcats. I have two daughters and a grandson who keep me very busy.
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS–Marquette?
Working at UPHS – Marquette brings me a lot of joy. My coworkers, our patients, and their families are what I enjoy the most about working here.
