What was your first job?
My first job was working at Montgomery Ward in high school. I was happy to take this job as it allowed me to earn money to do things and go shopping for new clothes.
What is your favorite activity that is offered at PortagePointe?
At PortagePointe I really enjoy the musical entertainment, as well as bingo!
What are the most important life lessons you have learned?
I always told my children, "do whatever you want in your life, as long as you do not hurt anyone." My kids say this has stuck with them throughout their lives — even to this day!
What did you do for fun growing up?
While growing up, I lived by a river — I would spend a lot of time there fishing, swimming, and water skiing. It was a blast.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that others may not know.
My life has been pretty interesting so far, one thing that really sticks out for me was my wedding day. We had a couple of thousand people there and our wedding was performed on the stage of the Dixon Armory as a highlight of the American Peony Show. We also moved 32 times for my husband’s job while he was in the Air Force.
What do you enjoy most about living at PortagePointe?
I really enjoy living at PortagePointe. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is very welcoming — plus the animals at PortagePointe are my favorite.
