Ann Clancy-Klemme Named UP Health System – Marquette 2022 Mercy Award Winner
May 19, 2022
UP Health System – Marquette recently announced Ann Clancy-Klemme, RN, EMT-P, CCRN, has been recognized as the hospital’s 2022 Mercy Award Recipient. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touch the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At UPHS – Marquette, we share LifePoint’s commitment to Making Communities Healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said Gar Atchison, Chief Executive Officer. “We are extremely proud to recognize Ann for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. In each of her many roles, Ann goes above and beyond to support fellow healthcare staff and ensure every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Since 1987, Ann has served in many roles at UPHS – Marquette and is currently a Critical Care Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She is also a Flight Nurse with the air ambulance helicopter service, an instructor for multiple mandatory nursing classes at UPHS – Marquette, and an active member of the Crisis and Stress Management Response Team. She has played a key role in the renewal of the facility’s Level II Trauma Certification, offering her valuable experience and knowledge to the trauma department staff.
Ann brings her passion for healthcare outside of work, providing education and support for several organizations in our community – and beyond. Ann has volunteered on several medical missions to developing countries and currently serves as the Secretary Chair of the Grants Management Committee with the Portage Health Foundation – a philanthropic organization that works to improve community health in the western Upper Peninsula. Her work with this organization was especially impactful following the 2018 flood disaster in the Houghton-Hancock area. Ann is also co-director of Camp 911, a two-day emergency preparedness camp educating 6th-graders in the Upper Peninsula since 1999.
Each hospital winner, including Ann, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2022 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced later this year and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, to which Ann and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
