What is your role at UPHS – Portage?
I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist serving patients in all different areas.
What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I always knew I could make an impact in healthcare. At first I wasn’t sure how I was going to do that until I took my first nutrition course in college – right then I knew I wanted to impact lives with the power of food and nutrition.
What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?
Fortunately, a typical day never looks the same. This is why I love working in rural health. You may see me working on the floor with inpatients, in our education office with outpatients, working in the community providing nutrition education, or even in the dialysis unit.
How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
August marked my one-year anniversary working at UPHS – Portage and I am so thankful to be here! I plan to provide dietitian services for a long time here.
What are some of the big changes you have experienced in this position?
It seems like every day there are big changes happening in healthcare. I am just glad to be here to help problem solve, trouble shoot, and put our patients first.
What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I am a new mom to twins – so you will find me living a beautiful chaotic life outside of work with my family. I recently joined the Hancock Public School Board as well – Go Bulldogs!
What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Portage?
I really enjoy the culture at UPHS – Portage. Working with amazing people makes it very easy to come to work every morning.
