What is your role at UPHS – Marquette?

I am a Volunteer at UP Health System – Marquette. 

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

I worked for the only ambulance service in the area from 1955-1956, which was the Marquette Fire Department. Neither of Marquette County's two hospitals had this service at the time. 

I volunteer because I feel it is the proper thing for someone to do. A friend encouraged me to join the hospital volunteer team. 

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

My position is at the information desk at the Medical Office Building greeting patients and helping them to their destination.  

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

I have been a volunteer for over 21 years at both the former Marquette General Hospital and now UP Health System – Marquette.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

My favorite gem is my wife of 66 years, Judy. I also enjoy riding my motorcycle, racketball, and golf. 

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?

When patients come for service, it's a joy to meet them and learn of their background and history.
