What is your role at UPHS?

I am an Environmental Services (EVS) Associate at UP Health System – Marquette. I clean and maintain my designated area and assist patients as much as I am allowed to in my role.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?

I am good with people and had personal experience caring for my mom, dad and grandpa. I wanted to do that for others, as well.

What’s a typical day like for you? What is it like working in this field?

A typical day for me is meeting new patients and assessing their room needs. I keep up with daily environmental maintenance, which includes a lot of detailing. It can be difficult at times, but if you take pride in your work, you'll feel fulfilled and be motivated to keep pushing forward.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?

I have been here for a little over 10 months, always in my role in EVS.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?

I love snowboarding and am glad to have Marquette Mountain so close to home. I also love Presque Isle—it's definitely the coolest place around here!

What do you enjoy most about working at UPHS – Marquette?

I am privileged to have the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives and hope that my work contributes to positive patient hospital stays.
