PortagePointe Neighbor of the Month | Penny Ziemer
January 23, 2023
What was your first job?
My first job was as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's working on the fourth floor. I really enjoyed it.
What is your favorite activity that is offered at PortagePointe?
For my favorite activity, I'd have to go with Bingo. Funny story, I used to dislike bingo and would never attend, but one day I went and it grew on me from there. It's a great opportunity to be around others because a lot of the residents attend and I have met some wonderful people through Bingo.
What are some of the most important life lessons you have learned?
It's easy, be nice to one another! I believe we should all be treated fairly and trust one another.
What did you do for fun growing up?
Growing up, I had a big hill behind our house and it was always a blast tobogganing down it during the winter months.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that some people may not know about you.
I belonged to the VFW Auxiliary with a fantastic group of ladies and each month we would make a bunch of pasties together — it was a blast.
What do you enjoy most about living at PortagePointe?
Everyone at PortagePointe is super nice and I really like it here. I have made some great friends and formed a strong relationship with my neighbor — we enjoy each other's company.
