Caroline Bisbee, Rn – Emergency Department

What is your title and role at UPHS-Portage? I am a Registered Nurse and I work primarily in the Emergency Dept, but I am cross trained to work in the ICU and Med Surg.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position? I have been here at Portage for 5 years. I started working in the Urology Clinic with Dr. Lipson. I loved working in the clinic but wanted to learn and grow as a nurse. I was recruited to work in the Emergency Dept and have found that I enjoy that every shift is different, and I am always learning something new.

How do you define success? To me success is setting a goal for yourself and achieving it. 

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why? I love to travel, and I have so many places that I want to see. But if I had to pick one place, I want to travel to the Falkland Islands to see the southern Rockhopper penguins. I love penguins and I want to see all 18 species in their natural environments, but Southern Rockhoppers are my favorite.

What is the best part about working for UPHS – Portage? I would have to say the best part is the people that I work with. I think we have a great group that is very supportive and works hard.
